After all the hype the Jackson Arnold era is set to begin at Oklahoma
It came a bit earlier than anyone expected, but the Jackson Arnold era is set to begin at Oklahoma.
The former five-star quarterback announced on social media Tuesday that he will be enrolling at Oklahoma in January and participating in spring practice.
Arnold was one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the country and was committed to Alabama for much of his recruitment. However, he decommitted from the Crimson Tide in October and reopened his recruitment.
Oklahoma was one of the schools that Arnold strongly considered, and he ultimately decided to join the Sooners over Georgia and Texas A&M.
Arnold is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job in the spring and is considered the frontrunner to replace Caleb Williams, who transferred to USC.
The Sooners are excited to have Arnold on campus, and they believe he has the potential to be a star in Norman.
“Jackson is a special player,” Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said. “He has all the tools to be a successful quarterback at this level. We’re excited to have him join our program and can’t wait to see what he can do.”
Arnold is a pro-style quarterback with a strong arm and good accuracy. He is also a good runner and is able to make plays with his feet.
The addition of Arnold gives Oklahoma a much-needed boost at the quarterback position. The Sooners are hoping that Arnold can lead them back to the College Football Playoff after a disappointing 6-7 season in 2022.
